New Pen Day: Platinum #3776 Century
So excited to share with you my new pen. I was recommended this pen during the start of my fountain pen journey… I saw the price and dismissed it, but added to my wishlist as something I probably will never have; yet here we are. I believe this pen retails for around $400 here in the US but in Japan, it’s around $200, give or take. The seller I went through is Penpen-Avenue over on eBay. They always have good deals and this is the second time I’ve purchased from them; and never had any issues. I highly recommend.
Platinum #3776 Century, Celluloid Sakura, 14k Fine nib
I chose to get it in a Fine nib as sometimes, I think Extra Fine is a bit scratchy (depending on what ink I’m using). So far I’m really enjoying this size nib. It’s very smooth and even though it’s a fine, it’s still able to show some shading of the ink.
I was tempted to put a pink into into this pen, but I really wanted to be able to use it as much as possible so I can get a really good feels for it; And with that, I ended up putting a brown shade of ink in it. So far I’m absolutely loving the pen and ink combination. Very happy with this choice.
Wearingeul Song of the Reed – From the Kim So Wol Literature collection is a medium brown ink with low shading. It dries in 60 seconds in a medium nib on Rhodia and has a dry flow. Wearingeul ink is made in Korea. ‘The Song of the Reed’ fountain pen ink encapsulates the sound and scenery of the dry reed leaves swaying in the wind in the middle of autumn. Overall, the color ranges from light brown to dark brown depending on the shading.
