Searching for the perfect journal

Hello loves. I hope you’re all doing well. In today’s post, I wanted to share my thoughts on my “feeling’s journal.” I was using a Traveler’s Company, in the regular size, the past year and half. Last year my insert was undated and it was great! I was able to finish the entire insert with no problem. So I thought, for 2023, I would get the same insert, but dated this time. To my surprise, it felt overwhelming, which made me stray away from it. I think maybe it was the pressure of having to really fill it out every single day. Or was it me just overthinking how I did my journaling in it? I’m not sure… All I know is that I barely touched it this year and I have no desire to. Which really saddens me because I really loved my TN. With that said, I will be selling my TN regular size collection very soon.

Lately, I’ve been having the urge to write and brain dump and I don’t have a place to do that in so here I am thinking that for 2024, I should have a designated journal for it. With that said, the search for the perfect journal starts…

Hobonichi Techo A6 Original Book – Monday Start (English) $35.00

You all know how much I adore the Hobonichi Techo A6, so of course this was my first choice.

The Techo has monthly pages and a page per day. It’s formatted very well. Date on top with the moon phase, a full 24hour timestamp on the left, which makes it easy if you need to schedule your day. The entire page is on grid paper, perfect for my small handwriting. (And one of my pet peeves is writing crooked, so this helps a lot haha). I’m also very happy that it is now going to be available in English later this year. Another plus with this is that covers are available to make using it more fun and personable.

Midori 2024 MD Notebook Diary 1 Day 1 Page – A6 Size $35.80

This diary has monthly pages, along with 385 pages of UNDATED dailies. Can you say, FREEDOM!? The monthly pages looks so clean and adorable; And the dailies is formatted just as clean with minimal lines.
It starts off with 7 bullet points on the top for your to-do lists and such. Followed by timestamps from 8:00 am to midnight, where you can easily schedule your day, and blank space on the right hand side.
It comes with matching index tabs so you can mark the beginning of each month or create your own.

I love this one, quite a lot because of the undated daily pages, as it gives you a lot of freedom to come and go as you please. No pressure.

Midori Diary Hibino – A6 Size – Blue-Green $64.00

This caught my attention as, I mean, look at it. It comes in this Blue-Green color and Camel. I feel like the layout of the Hibino is pretty similar to the Hobonichi Techo A6.

Date and moon phase on top, with a 24 hour time stamp on the left, and on the right is grid. This one is actually a 2 page a day diary, so it’s really great for those who needs plenty of space to write in on a daily basis.

Another thing is that I heard the paper used in this diary is similar to the tomoe river paper used in the Hobonichi; and we all know how much I love that!

So there you have it. Those are my top 3 picks for my feelings journal. After much deliberations I’ve decided on the Midori 2024 MD Notebook Diary 1 Day 1 Page – A6 Size. I feel like it’ll be fun to have something different, layout and paper, in my line up for 2024 (since everything is Hobonichi). But the real winning aspect for me are the undated daily pages. I just really think that will work best for me. No pressure with having to fill it out everyday. I’m excited and can’t wait to share with you how I use it and my progress, in the coming year. What about you? Do you have a personal diary? If so, what are you using and why? Would love to know. xoxo
