It’s starting to feel like home

Hello my lovely blog readers. I hope you’re all doing well πŸ™‚ Today’s post is a bit different than usual. I really just wanted to sit down and write, write about all my thoughts and just really talk to you guys as I would with a friend ♥ I miss doing posts like this. Before, in my early blog years, I honestly would just blab and write about anything and everything. Now that I do this for a living and have gotten more exposure, I took it a step back. I feel like my blog is more informative than personal and it just doesn’t really feel like… “love,” if that makes any sense at all.

Anyways, now that I got that out of the way, I wanted to catch up on a few things because I don’t think I ever really explained it here on the blog, nor even mentioned it? So last March, my husband and I traveled to Italy. While in Italy, Tom had gotten a phone call and got a job offer, which he accepted. His new job required us to move. It all happened soooooo fast! Two weeks after our trip, we had gotten a new condo so Tom could start working at his new job. Meanwhile, we were both looking for a new home. We put our house up for sale and it sold within 2 days, a week later we found our new house – this all happened in less than 2 months! It was such a whirlwind.

We moved into our new home end of May. We did lots of renovations in the new home the first month and now just trying to nest. There’s still a lot of things that we want to do to the house but it’s nothing that needs to be done now πŸ™‚ I can’t wait to continue working on the house. If you aren’t subscribe to my YouTube Channel, you totally should! I’m doing a HOUSE TO HOME series where I show you before and after of each room of the house. I figure this would be better than waiting to do a whole house tour once everything is done because who knows when everything will be done!?

The House to Home series so far has 4 episodes. More will definitely be coming really really soon ♥

Any who, I’m just very happy how our new house is starting to feel like home. Our last home, we did do some renovations as well but a lot of the things were picked out by Tom and my father in law. Only thing I really got a say in last time were the paint colors and color of the carpet, not a whole lot. This time around, I made sure that I picked everything out (with Tom’s agreement? Is that even the right word? LOL) But yes, I made sure that everything is really what we BOTH like.

One thing that I really wish I can change in this house is the dark wood trimmings, because we all know that I love white, but it is beautiful customized real wood that matches everything, and I do mean everything – the cabinetry, windows, doors, bar, everything. So unfortunately, it’s not something we can change that easily or paint over – omg I can’t even, painting it would be so terrible! It would look cheap and loose it’s value. πŸ™ There’s honestly so much so yes, as much as I want white trims and molding, that’s just not an option. I am starting to love all the dark cherry wood though πŸ™‚ I’m just really glad it’s dark cherry instead of oak. O_O;

Working around these things have been challenging. I didn’t think any of our furniture will match it but so far so good. I think the mixture adds to the character and the decor. It looks cozy you know?

A little bit about this house, if you watch the Empty House Tour, you’ll notice a few things that are rather “different.” This house was a custom built home for a family of three. I love how the old owners built it and utilized every single inch of the house. There’s so much storage everywhere. I also love the fact that the living room is one big open space that goes into Tom’s office and looks into the Kitchen to the Dining Room. The basement is honestly well layed out too! No odd spaces that’s like, “what’s that room for?” Everything is utilized well, which really made us love and want this house.

We still have a ways to go with this house but I am excited! Again, I just can’t wait to share with you guys everything! ♥ Oh, I also wanted to mention that I have re-done the “OUR HOME” page so go pay it a visit. There you will see our House To Do list and of course all the House to Home posts & videos.

And that wraps up this post. I know super long, but I hope it didn’t bore you guys. Let me know if you like reading these types of posts or if you’d rather me just do photos and little captions on them haha. Thank you all for stopping by and until next time! xoxo
